Backup/Piston Rings

Backup, piston, and wear rings are key sealing components designed to maintain stability and reduce friction in hydraulic and bicycle suspension systems. Made primarily from self-lubricating, wear-resistant PTFE, these parts ensure smooth operation and long service life even under repeated motion or pressure.

Backup rings prevent O-rings from extruding or deforming, extending seal life under high pressure. Piston rings maintain consistent compression and minimize friction inside cylinders, while wear rings guide moving parts and prevent metal-to-metal contact. Together, they enhance the durability and responsiveness of shock absorbers and other mechanical systems.

To complement these sealing solutions, ESI also produces POM fittings used in related fluid and air control assemblies. POM (polyoxymethylene) offers excellent dimensional stability and wear resistance, making it well-suited for precise, lightweight connections in bicycle applications.

Every part is machined to tight tolerances and inspected using KEYENCE optical instruments, ensuring dimensional accuracy and surface quality that meet the high-precision demands of performance bicycle and industrial applications.
